A major storm making its way up the coast coupled with less then memorable riding and I decided to make my way back to familiar ground. In the final days of my travel I hope to find unique roads and experiences in northern New England but for now the creature comforts of my sisters home seemed more appealing then slogging it out in the rain.
There was one piece of Americana in the area I felt I needed to see before leaving the area.

Plymouth Rock.
Fabled as the landing place of the Pilgrims I figured it was noteworthy enough to have a look and dropped in on my way back to Boston for a look.

I pushed north up the secondary roads through towns like Cohasset, Hingham and Quincy before getting locked up in traffic south of Boston. It was here while sitting roadside waiting for the big air cooled engine to find an acceptable operating temperature that I decided the eastern seaboard had run its course.
I eventually made my way to the north shore grabbing a quick bite to eat, a few things to help ease the traffic induced frustration and went to my sisters place.

I will spend a few days away from the bike and attend a family event early next week before heading to northern New Hampshire and Maine to look for some back roads to explore.

too funny…I was just thumbing thru some old Maxim mags while in the “reading room” and there was an article on the best places in the U.S. to eat various foods….The Clam Box in Ipswich made the list.
LOL! The old Clam Box. It’s only a couple of miles from my sister’s place.
Next time you are in the “reading room” and doing a little research let me know of a good burger joint in the area.
The Clam Box won the “Clams most worthy of your Clams” title. Sorry bud, nothing in Maxim north of Ipswich but you might want to check out a place call Wild Willy’s Burgers in York, ME. Likely not a good as an old Farmer Brown’s Special Burger platter, but beggers can’t be choosers.
I’ll have to check it out but consensus here in Ipswich is that the burger at FB’s would be the winner.
Plymouth Rock is much smaller than I’d imagined… Interesting.
No joke. I was surprised when I saw it.
loving the facial hair !!!!
All for you Julie. That and this whole shaving deal in a bit of a pain in the…
Hola amigo Len, ya casi llegas a la casa que bueno porque ya es hora de un buen descanso después de tan larga travesía digna de un documental. Mi esposa te manda muchas saludes y que no se t olvide llamar.

Len: Ever since you pulled into the Comox Valley last summer I have been following your travels on a daily basis. When you were out of internet range it was like going through withdrawal. Amazing just does not seem to be a strong enough adjective of your adventure. You are an inspiration to those who are nervous about getting out of their comfort zone. Well done indeed!!!
Thanks Gord. I remember the surprise on your face when I pulled the helmet off and you saw who was riding in.
It means a lot to get that kind of reaction from someone I respect and I’m glad to know you were following along.
Cheers!
Hi Len,
We are sort of late followers, happened to fall in love with your bike who transpired experience as swell as the scars from going through the challenges of real life! Then you came out of the grocery store…
The too brief small chat we had in that parking lot near Sherbrooke was priceless…
Your experience of freedom is tho say the least “unusual” and gutsy. We wish you well for the next steps.
Habla español muy bien! congratulaciones!!
Aurevoir!

Her name (the bike) is Nelly and she appreciates both the compliment and the fact you noticed how hard I have treated her. Thank you for the chat. It is all of the talks with people along the way that have made the journey what it is.
